Bring Your Writing to Life

In this easy-to-use workbook, Amy Michelle Wiley shows you how to bring your writing to life. Instead of telling the simple facts of the story, you will immerse your reader in the action so they are experiencing the events and full range of emotions along with the character.

Amy teaches the technique commonly called “show, don’t tell” with lots of concrete examples so you know exactly what to do and what to avoid. She covers a range of topics, including the use of adjectives and adverbs, dialogue tags, point of view, and descriptive language. Each section ends with a short worksheet to practice the skills yourself.

This guide is perfect for writers who want to hone their skills, or for teachers to use in the classroom.

Reaching Sky By Amy Michelle Wiley

Sage Henderson is fed up with hypocritical adults dictating his every move. He will be eighteen and out of the system in a couple of weeks anyway, so after a confrontation with his foster father, he takes off. On his way out of town he stops to say goodbye to his little sister at another home. With one look at her battered face, he knows he can’t just leave her there. Sage and Sky begin a journey from California to Seattle, but it’s not long before they realize someone from their past is following them—and it is not social services. This guy is much scarier… and deadlier. Will the siblings have time to heal and reconnect, or will they once again be dragged apart and into danger?

Rough draft of the manuscript is completed and the book is receiving a professional edit. A small publisher has requested to see the completed manuscript.

Voices of the Dark By Amy Michelle Wiley

Adria Kingston works as a counselor specializing in young trauma victims, but she’s never encountered a child so severely withdrawn as this little girl. She opens her home and heart to the toddler and calls her Renee, believing the name’s meaning of rebirth will be symbolic of her eventual return to normal life. But as Adria delves into the child’s background, she realizes Renee's silence is hiding a trail of more imprisoned girls.

Amy is currently working on writing the first rough draft of this book and getting proposals ready to send out to publishers and agents.

Amy is a contributing author with the short story "Chains," which is set in her home area in the Pacific Northwest. She was also the project director, compiler, critiquer, and publisher for this collection of interacting short fiction stories about postcards scattered around the world that offer, "Let me pray for you." This book was created by twenty-six authors and artists from six different countries.

Struggle Creek, a Peculiar People Collaboration

Amy is a contributing author with two chapters in this small-town mystery novel. She was also the project director, compiler, critiquer, and publisher for this fiction book that was created by about twenty-four authors.

This book contains an interview of Amy talking about her experiences living with Fibromyalgia.
